**WHAT:** Heat index values up to 99°F expected.
**WHERE:** Broome, Chemung, Onondaga, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga, and Tompkins Counties.
**WHEN:** From 10 AM to 8 PM EDT today.
**IMPACTS:** Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat-related illnesses.
**PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:**
- Drink plenty of fluids.
- Stay in air-conditioned rooms.
- Avoid the sun.
- Check on relatives and neighbors.
- Follow OSHA guidelines for outdoor work: take frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
- If anyone is overcome by heat, move them to a cool and shaded place. Heat stroke is an emergency—call 911.
