Former President Donald Trump has gained a slight lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in Michigan, according to a recent poll. The WDIV/Detroit News poll, conducted from August 26 to August 29, shows that 44.7% of likely voters in Michigan support Trump, while 43.5% back Harris.
The poll also reveals that 4.7% of voters favor former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Additionally, 2.3% expressed support for a third-party candidate, and 4.8% remain undecided.
Polls Show Tight Race Between Trump and Harris in Michigan and Other Battleground States

The poll indicates that 44.7% of likely voters in Michigan support Trump, while 43.5% back Harris. Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. garnered 4.7% of the vote, with 2.3% supporting a third-party candidate, and 4.8% still undecided.
Among "definite voters," the poll found Harris slightly ahead with 45.7% support compared to Trump’s 44.1%. Kennedy received 3.9%, another 2.3% backed a third-party candidate, and 3.9% remained undecided.
This follows a previous ActiVote poll conducted from July 28 to August 28, 2024, which showed Harris with a slim lead, securing 50.1% of likely voters compared to Trump's 49.9%. Another poll by AARP, conducted from August 7 to 8, 2024, had Trump leading Harris 45% to 43%, with Kennedy at 6%, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein and independent left-wing candidate Cornel West each at 1%.
A recent Reuters/Ipsos survey also found Trump leading Harris across seven key battleground states, including Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, and Nevada. In these closely contested states, Trump holds a 45% to 43% advantage over Harris.
